International Survivors' Day
Today is International Survivors' Day. Survivor Day is the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather around the world at events in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope.
I lost a friend to suicide during my 6th form year at boarding school. It was a dark cloud in early December - right before we all headed home for the holiday break. Time and love are the only things that can heal the pain, but it is possible to feel like yourself again after tragedy happens.
And if you are someone who is feeling hopeless or lost, there are people out there who love and care about you. The number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-8255. Please call it if you think you might need to. Reach out to your friends and family, and give yourself lots of love and care. You have value, and you have worth. I love you.
